Help Blind and Disabled Children with Shelter and Care
February 2026
Thanks to your compassionate and regular support of our mission to care for blind and disabled children and young women across India, they are able to pursue their dreams and lead lives of dignity and independence. Here is one such story of triumph.

From darkness to Delhi University: Sajia
Born blind in Jharkhand, Sajia joined the Blind Welfare Society in August 2024 with one dream — to study at Delhi University. With access to Braille textbooks, audio study materials, and a personal academic aide, she secured admission to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College. There, she didn't just excel academically — she became a vocal advocate for inclusive education, earning recognition for her talent in public speaking and creative writing. Today, Sajia is not just a student. She is a movement.
Your donations provide not just shelter and education, but dignity, opportunity, and hope to young women like Sajia who have nowhere else to turn.
Thank you for making these transformations possible.

Our colleague Sai Saranya recently visited Divya Jyothi Charitable Trust, one of the NGOs you are supporting as part of the mission, ‘Help blind and disabled children with shelter and care.’ What she witnessed there was nothing short of inspiring—all made possible by your support.
Here are a few heartwarming moments from her visit in her own words:

"I spent six hours at Divya Jyothi's hostel and computer training centre, and what struck me most was the confidence radiating from these visually challenged girls. The hostel environment is clean, safe, and thoughtfully designed for their independence and mobility.
These girls aren't just living here, they are thriving. I watched them navigate their surroundings with ease, displaying remarkable confidence and strong bonds with one another. The structured routines support their learning and growth beautifully.
When I spoke with the girls, their gratitude was overwhelming. They told me how much the training and residential support mean to them—not just the skills they're gaining, but the security and care they feel every single day.
The staff's dedication is remarkable. Every person I met showed genuine care and clear commitment to these children's well-being. If you didn't know their stories, you'd simply see confident young women learning, growing, and building bright futures.”
Each donation gives a blind or disabled child shelter, education, and something irreplaceable—dignity, skills, and the chance to dream.
Thank you for giving them hope and a brighter tomorrow.

Thanks to your compassionate support of our mission to help blind and disabled children with shelter and care, they are able to lead lives of dignity and independence.
Here are two such stories of triumph -

A new world of possibilities: Keerthi Shalini
Born with visual impairment in a small village near Tumakuru in Karnataka, Keerthi's parents struggled to find accessible education for her. She remained at home for years, her dreams seeming out of reach. Through Divya Jyothi Charitable Trust's residential program, Keerthi learned Braille, computer literacy, and spoken English. Today, she's pursuing Pre-University studies and training in digital literacy, helping other students with screen-reading software and exam preparation. Her dream? To become a teacher for visually impaired children, giving back the guidance she received.

From adversity to achievement: Rekha
Rekha lost her parents in childhood and faced life's challenges alone. After completing 10th grade, she found support at Bharatiya Netraheen Kalyan Parishad Hostel in Delhi, where all her expenses were covered. With access to education, computer training, and career guidance, Rekha prepared rigorously for competitive exams. Her dedication paid off. She secured a position with the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, achieving true self-reliance and independence.
These stories represent countless others whose lives have been transformed by your generosity. Your donations provide not just shelter and education, but dignity, opportunity, and hope to children who have nowhere else to turn.
Thank you for making these transformations possible.
