Feed the Hungry
May 2026
After joining our mission, Feed the Hungry, you have ensured that someone who had nothing still had a meal every day. Your monthly giving is the reason 3,628 people, elderly individuals living in shelter homes and children sitting in government school classrooms, did not go hungry this year.
This is what your support made possible in 2025–26:

What the numbers cannot tell you is this — somewhere, a child sat down to a hot, freshly cooked meal before opening her textbook, because someone like you made sure it was there. An elderly man in a shelter home received a nutritious meal every single day.
Behind every meal served is a small but profound act of dignity. Thanks to you, a child can focus in class because she is not hungry and an elder’s health and immunity is holding because of consistent, fortified nutrition.
Please keep giving. More empty plates are waiting to be filled.

When we first met Ishwari (name changed), a 9-year-old girl in Class 4, she was coming to school on an empty stomach, struggling to focus, low on energy, and often absent. Coming from a family of six where both parents are daily wage workers, a reliable meal was simply out of reach.

But because of your compassionate support for Mission Feed The Hungry, Ishwari's story took a remarkable turn.
Ishwari was enrolled in the Midday Meal programme run by Annamrita, an NGO dedicated to providing freshly cooked, nutritious meals to school children across India. Every single day, she now receives a hot, balanced meal — dal-rice, pulav, and more — ensuring she has at least one reliable source of nourishment, made possible by donors like you.
The regular, nutrient-rich meals have not only restored Ishwari’s energy but given her the confidence to thrive. She now ranks first in her class and actively participates in sports like kabaddi.
As Ishwari herself says: "I like coming to school because I get tasty and hot food every day. Dal-rice is my favourite. It gives me energy to study and play. I want to become a doctor and help others."
On behalf of Ishwari and all those whose lives you have touched, we extend our deepest gratitude.

Our colleague Sandesh recently visited Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI), one of the NGOs supported by you, our monthly donors, who are part of the mission Feed the Hungry.
Here's what Sandesh has to say about the impact your donations are making on the ground:
"My visit to Rise Against Hunger India was both reassuring and deeply moving. It began at their office, where I met the leadership team — the COO, Program Manager, and Finance Manager. What struck me immediately was their clarity of vision and the strength of their systems. This is an organisation that knows exactly what it is doing and why.
From there, I visited a partner shelter home that receives monthly ration support from RAHI. The shelter houses over 150 elderly individuals and persons with intellectual disabilities. Every month, RAHI supplies sealed dry ration packets, each containing approximately 460–485 grams of fortified dry ration that, when cooked, can serve up to six meals. Watching the food being prepared and served to residents made the impact tangible. For many of them, this ration forms their breakfast every single day. This was just one facility. There are many others that RAHI operates like this.
The final stop was RAHI's warehouse — and it told its own story. Spotlessly clean and meticulously organised, with clear instructions displayed on handling, measuring, mixing, packing and sealing. Every packet carried batch and expiry details. Staff wore masks, gloves and head covers without exception. It was an operation built on care, precision and accountability.
Here’s a short video of your impact:

Your donations are in the right hands. Funds are properly accounted for, beneficiaries are carefully tracked, and the impact is visible in every meal served, and in every face it nourishes."
Thank you for making this possible.

When Bhaira was found on the streets of Bangalore, his condition was critical. Frail and vulnerable, he had been surviving without proper food or care, and his health was rapidly deteriorating. Each day was a battle just to stay alive.
But because of your compassionate support for Mission: Feed The Hungry, Bhaira's story took a remarkable turn.
Now as a resident at Sipani Seva Sadan NGO in Bangalore, Bhaira is receiving nutritious meals provided by Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI), the NGO you are supporting through the mission, 'Feed the Hungry.' Nourishing meals, funded by donors like you, became the foundation of Bhaira's recovery.

Today, Bhaira is almost unrecognisable, says the NGO. He now actively supports other disabled residents at the home and has found a renewed sense of purpose. Looking back on his journey, Bhaira says, "I never imagined I could feel this healthy again. These meals gave me strength and hope to rebuild my life and support others."
We share Bhaira's story with you as it perfectly illustrates the incredible impact of your support. Your donations are providing hundreds of vulnerable people with the nourishment they need to survive and thrive. Thank you for your continued support.

Our colleague Edin Jayanti recently visited Annamrita Foundation, one of the NGOs supported by you, our monthly donors who are part of the mission Feed the Hungry.
Here's what Edin has to say about the impact your donations are making on the ground:

"I arrived at Annamrita's central kitchen at dawn, just as the team began preparing meals for thousands of children across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. What I witnessed was more than a kitchen—it was a well-orchestrated operation fueled by care and precision.
The attention to detail moved me. Every staff member wears hairnets and special footwear. Utensils are washed with hot water. Each batch of food is sampled and stored for quality monitoring. And most importantly, the menu itself is shaped by the children—their feedback guides taste adjustments, ensuring the meals are not just nutritious, but also something they genuinely enjoy.

Later, I visited a government Marathi medium school in Parel during lunch hour. Students lined up with their tiffin boxes, eyes bright with anticipation. There were no restrictions. Children could take as much as they needed. When I asked what they loved most, the answers came quickly: sheera, chikki, and khichdi.
One young girl told me simply, 'We don't go hungry anymore.'
That's the power of your monthly support as thousands of children. Every single day, kids receive meals prepared with dignity and delivered with care. And they eat with joy.
Thank you for making this possible."

November 2025
Thanks to your monthly support to our mission, Feed The Hungry, the first half of this year has been a story of nourishment, dignity, and hope for children and the elderly in need.

Together with our NGO partners Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI) and Annamrita Foundation, we provided meals to 2,794 individuals who depend on this support every single day.
Your impact this half-year:
40,115 fortified meals were served to 510 elderly and destitute individuals in shelter homes in Bengaluru and Mumbai.
Overall health and immunity of beneficiaries improved (Partner: RAHI)
Daily midday meals were provided to 2,284 underprivileged children
Government schools in Mumbai were covered, supporting children's education and physical well-being. (Partner: Annamrita Foundation)
These meals are not just about food—they're a daily reminder that someone cares.
Story from the ground
Meena, a sixth-grader from Mumbai, dreams of becoming a doctor. With four children for her parents who try to make ends meet, every meal matters. For Meena, Annamrita's midday meals—especially her favorite pulav—are more than just food. They give her the energy to excel in studies. "These meals help me stay focused and motivated to come to school every day," she says. Thanks to nutritious midday meals, Meena can chase her dreams with a full stomach and hopeful heart.

Dear donor, because of you, a child went to school, and an elder had the strength to greet a new day with dignity. Thank you for feeding not just bodies, but spirits too.

When Hemavathi was not part of any NGO, every day felt like an insurmountable struggle. And constant weakness left Hemavathi exhausted and unable to perform even the simplest tasks. Frail, vulnerable, and without access to nutritious food, Hemavathi’s health continued to decline.
But because of your compassionate support for Mission Feed The Hungry, Hemavathi's story took a remarkable turn.

Now as a resident at Navachetna, an NGO in Bangalore, Hemavathi is getting nutritious meals provided by Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI), the NGO you are supporting through the mission, ‘Feed the Hungry.’ Nourishing meals, funded by donors like you, became the foundation of Hemavathi’s recovery.
Hemavathi began to notice a transformation. The energy levels improved, and the weakness that had weighed Hemavathi down began to fade. Each meal became a step toward renewed strength and vitality.
Today, Hemavathi is almost unrecognisable, says the NGO. Looking back on the journey, Hemavathi says, "I no longer feel the pain and weakness that troubled me for so long. These meals have given me the energy to live each day with confidence and hope."
We share Hemavathi's story with you as it perfectly illustrates the incredible impact of your support. Your donations are providing hundreds of vulnerable people with the nourishment they need to survive and thrive. Thank you for your continued support.

We are writing to express our deepest gratitude for your generous support of our monthly mission, Feed the Hungry. Because of compassionate donors like you, we are able to partner with incredible organisations like Annamrita to provide nutritious meals to children, empowering them to learn, grow, and chase their biggest dreams
Your contribution is changing lives every single day. Take, for example, the story of Amina (name changed), a bright sixth-grade student.

Amina is a young girl with big dreams of becoming a doctor. But to excel in her studies and sports, she needs proper nourishment. This is where you make all the difference.
The mid-day meal provided by Annamrita is an essential part of her day. Her favourite dish, pulav, gives her the energy to focus in class and the strength to play on the field. For children like Amina from modest backgrounds, this nutritious meal is a powerful incentive to attend school every day and stay motivated to achieve her goals.
Your kindness ensures that children do not have to choose between hunger and an education. Thank you for being the reason students like Amina can stay healthy, focused, and one step closer to their dreams.

Because of your regular support to our 'Feed The Hungry' mission, organisations like Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI) can provide hundreds of meals to the vulnerable people every single day.
The real magic happens on the ground, through the dedicated staff and volunteers who carry out this mission. Today, we want to bring you a firsthand perspective from one of these heroes.

Here is Sagar Potalkar, a Senior Program Executive at Rise Against Hunger India. He works tirelessly across multiple cities to turn your compassion into direct impact. Here, he describes the profound difference you are making:
“My two years at Rise Against Hunger India have been transformative. Working across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, I've witnessed the profound power of collective action. Partnering with organizations like AiR Humanitarian Homes and Siphani has shown me how a simple meal can do far more than curb hunger—it restores dignity and offers hope.
I recall an elderly man at a care home who told me the meal was a reminder that someone still cared. That moment stays with me. These partnerships go beyond service; they create safe spaces and provide emotional support for the overlooked—the elderly, underprivileged, and those with disabilities.
Your support does more than fill plates—it nourishes humanity. Together, we’re building a more compassionate and inclusive world, one meal at a time. Thank you for being part of this vital mission.”
Sagar’s words perfectly capture the hope you provide. Your monthly gift does so much more than feed people; it tells them they are not forgotten.
Thank you for your incredible commitment. Please continue to stand with the mission as we bring comfort and dignity to those who need it most.

Maya was rescued by SEAL Ashram, an NGO that provides care to vulnerable elders and children. They provided crucial medical care to heal the body, compassionate counseling to restore the spirit, and, most importantly, nutritious khichdi made possible by Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI).
These nourishing meals, funded by donors like you through the ‘Feed the Hungry’ mission, became the foundation of Maya’s recovery.

Today, Maya is almost unrecognizable. The regular, nutrient-rich meals not only restored Maya’s physical health but also gave Maya the mental strength to reclaim life.

Thanks to your support to our mission, Feed the Hungry, our partner NGO Annamrita Foundation isn’t just filling plates, it’s fuelling dreams!
Here’s how your generosity is transforming lives in Mumbai’s schools:

Shalaka Prakash Basankar, principal of South Girgaon Marathi School talking about the mid-day meals says, "Our students love the nutritious meals—especially kichhdi and Amti Bhat (Rice with a spicy, tangy, and soupy dish). Both boys and girls enjoy them.”

Shaikh Dawood Yusuf, a teacher at A.I. Jan Mohd. Cassum High School, Mumbai, says, "The meals are of excellent quality and nutrition. Our children love Annamrita’s rice-dal and vegetable pulav.”
For many children who come from homes where such balanced meals are rare, mid-day meals are filling a vital nutritional gap.
Teachers say that thanks to your regular support of our mission, the energy levels of students are high, attendance is better than ever before and they are getting better at studies.
Thank you for making a huge difference in the lives of school-going kids.

Thank you so much for supporting our mission, Feed the Hungry.
Because of you our NGO partner Annamrita Foundation can provide midday meals to school children across India. Your support isn’t just filling plates—it’s helping children remain in school instead of dropping out, and have dreams for the future.
Monthly donations are the backbone of our work. They secure a daily lunch for every child at school, and give our NGO funds they can rely on to reach more schools and communities.
Here we share a few pictures of children from underprivileged communities enjoying meals in Mumbai schools. For many of them, this is the most balanced meal of the day. While we’ve blurred their faces to follow government guidelines, trust us—their smiles are as bright as their hopes for the future.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

Here’s a direct message from Dr Ravindra Khatanhar, Founder of Annamrita Foundation, expressing his sincere gratitude for your support of our mission Feed the Hungry.
Dear Donor,
I extend my deepest gratitude for your support of this mission which helps us run the midday meal program for school children across India. Your contributions are not just filling plates but are also igniting dreams, fueling education and building a brighter future for countless children.
Regular, monthly contributions are a lifeline for our work. It means uninterrupted meals and a secure education for a child, and the stability and predictability we need to plan and expand our program to more schools and communities.
Our reach extends to regions where children often attend school on an empty stomach. The midday meal ensures that hunger doesn't stand in the way of learning. It encourages attendance, gives the energy to study, play and perform better academically, and ensures every child receives an equal chance to succeed.
Your generosity is the cornerstone of this transformative journey, thank you for being a part of it.
Warm regards,
Dr. Ravindra Khatanhar

Half-yearly reports from partner NGOs for our mission Feed The Hungry have recently come in. And stories of behavioural change that proper nutrition triggers in the young and old - thanks to regular support from donors like you - are truly uplifting.

For instance, for 10-year-old Ayaan Ali*, the lunch he has at his municipal school on Mohd Umer Rajjab Road in Mumbai, the one meal he knows he can have enough of and doesn't have to share with his two siblings. It has not only made the Class 4 student regular in attendance but Ayaan is also more focussed in his studies and active in sports, especially hockey which he loves.
LIVES IMPACTED
You have also contributed to the health and well being of 662 elders and school children because of the daily meals being provided to them by our NGO partners.
Other achievements highlighted by each of our mission NGO partners include:
17,721 meals were distributed by Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI) to 447 senior citizens living in three shelter homes. These meals are fortified with various nutrients to boost health and immunity of the beneficiaries.
165 underprivileged children studying in two government schools received midday meals for six months from Annamrita. The schools are: Safarabadi Urdu School and Kawalemath Banganga in Mumbai.
EVERY NUMBER HAS A NAME
every name has a story and every story matters to us - like that of Leelamma*. The 52-year-old had been found on the streets suffering from hepatitis A, anaemia and swelling in her legs and hands before she arrived at the Navachetana home for abandoned elders. With proper care and meals provided by RAHI, the swelling has subsided, her haemoglobin levels are stable and she has even begun assisting others at the centre.

All this is possible thanks to you.

Sashiwala ended up in an old age home after being abandoned by the family. Besides dealing with a few health issues, the home was keen to provide proper nutrition to sustain recovery.
Thanks to your support of our mission, our partner NGO Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI) collaborated with the home to provide Sashiwala and many other elderly residents with 19,619 packaged meals fortified with vitamins, minerals and nutrients.

Today, Sashiwala speaks for everyone when she expresses gratitude: "I love the taste of the RAHI khichdi. It's easy to chew and really helps with my digestion, too."
Your generosity ensures many more elderly receive the nourishment they need to recover and thrive.

Subscribers like you have already ensured that thousands of nutritious meals are provided for children from poor families who go to school on an empty stomach and for abandoned elders in old age homes.
Here is a simple intervention that is helping to improve the health and immunity of undernourished elders. Many residential care institutions struggle with adequate resources to provide wholesome nutrition. Your contribution is being utilised by one of our NGO partners to deliver packaged meals, fortified with 20 micronutrients and minerals, which are served as breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks or dinner in these homes.
