April 2026

Our colleague Edin recently visited Pure Devotion Foundation, one of the NGOs you support through the mission 'Help abandoned elderly with shelter and care'. What he witnessed was deeply moving. This is possible because of the regular support of donors like you.

Here are highlights from his visit in his own words:

"Pure Devotion Foundation shelters elderly widowed matajis across two facilities in Radha Kund, in the Vrindavan region of Uttar Pradesh.

What struck me immediately was the dignity afforded to each mataji. Unlike shared dormitory models, every resident has her own private room with an attached western toilet. The facilities were clean and well-maintained.

In addition, the organisation provides monthly groceries, LPG gas, fruits, milk, and a monthly cash allowance of ₹2,000 for personal needs. Their days begin with morning kirtan and bhajan, and spiritual activity remains at the heart of their daily routine.

What moved me most was seeing how at peace the matajis appeared. For women who had often been cast aside by the world, this place offered something profound. A community, a purpose, and the freedom to live out their faith on their own terms.

Beyond the shelter, Pure Devotion also supports approximately 800 matajis in the wider community across Radha Kund, Govardhan and Vrindavan through monthly grocery distribution — each beneficiary registered and issued an ID card to ensure support reaches them reliably."

Each donation of yours gives an abandoned elderly woman nutritious food, spiritual community, and something truly irreplaceable — dignity and the freedom to live her final years in devotion and peace.

Thank you for giving them comfort and respect in their golden years.

March 2026

Our colleague Edin recently visited Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society (SHEOWS), one of the NGOs you support through the mission 'Help abandoned elderly with shelter and care'. What he witnessed was deeply moving. And it is possible because of the regular support of donors like you.

Here are highlights from his visit in his own words:

"SHEOWS currently cares for around 450 elderly residents across its facilities. Most of them were rescued from the streets, many in critical condition when they arrived. What struck me most was the sheer scale of compassion operating quietly behind these walls.

The organisation runs active rescue operations across Delhi NCR with two dedicated ambulances, responding to alerts from local residents, police, and hospitals. The moment someone arrives, the care begins — immediate medical screening, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and a treatment plan within 24–48 hours. The in-house infrastructure is remarkable: a pathology lab, pharmacy, physiotherapy unit, digital X-ray facility, and an ICU — all staffed round the clock by doctors and nurses.

Once residents stabilise, they move into residential care — safe shelter, clothing, three nutritious meals a day, and emotional support. The daily routine is structured to keep residents engaged and their spirits lifted.

I sat with five beneficiaries during my visit. Every one of them had a story of abandonment — left by families, found on the streets, often unwell. But what they spoke of now was safety. Belonging. One resident told me she wishes to spend the rest of her life here, because SHEOWS now feels like home.

For those who pass away without family, SHEOWS ensures dignified last rites — no one is left behind, even at the end."

Each donation of yours makes this possible — rescuing an abandoned elder from the streets, giving them a warm meal, medical care, and something no one should have to go without: dignity and a family that truly cares.

Thank you for being part of their story.

February 2026

Thanks to your compassionate support of our mission ‘Help Abandoned Elderly with Shelter and Care,’ seniors across the country are able to lead lives of dignity and hope.

How Chandra found a reason to live again, thanks to you:

In the small village of Pennalur Pettai lives 75-year-old Chandra, who has lost everyone dear to them — and with no relatives or neighbours to turn to, lives entirely alone. With health declining with age, there were countless nights Chandra went to bed hungry, feeling completely forgotten by the world.

Today, thanks to our partner NGO Share and Care, Chandra receives regular food, ration supplies, and medical support. The people from the NGO check in regularly — and that simple act of being remembered has given Chandra the strength to carry on. "I feel like someone cares whether I live or die," Chandra says quietly. For Chandra, that is everything.

These stories represent countless others whose lives have been touched by your generosity. Your donations provide not just food and medical care, but dignity, companionship, and hope to elderly individuals who have nowhere else to turn.

Thank you for making these transformations possible.

January 2026

This holiday season, something beautiful happened at Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society (SHEOWS) and Jeevan Aanand Sanstha (JAS).

The halls filled with laughter. Stories were shared over warm meals. New friendships blossomed. And as Christmas lights twinkled and the New Year arrived, the elderly residents in our care experienced something precious: the joy of celebration surrounded by community.

Your support made all of this possible.

The images below capture these special moments—the smiles, the togetherness, the dignity of celebrating life's milestones in a place that feels like home.

Because of donors like you, SHEOWS and JAS can offer more than shelter. They provide a home where abandoned elders can live their golden years with happiness, purpose, and the care they deserve.

From all of us, and especially from the residents whose lives you've touched—thank you for being part of their journey.

December 2025

Your monthly support to our mission Protect Abandoned Elders does more than provide shelter, food, and care. Sometimes, it helps restore something far more precious—a lost connection with family.

Recently, our partner NGO Jeevan Anand Sanstha made this possible for an elder who had gone missing from their family and was later found unwell and disoriented on the streets of Maharashtra. With no clear details about home or loved ones, the elder, Fuldevi, was brought to safety and care at the NGO’s shelter.

What followed was months of patient care and determined effort. Using small clues, conversations, and even simple online searches, the team worked tirelessly to trace the elder’s roots. Their compassion and persistence finally led them to the family in Uttar Pradesh. After months of separation, the family was reunited, bringing relief, dignity, and closure to everyone involved.

This reunion is a powerful reminder of what your generosity makes possible. Because of you, abandoned elders are not only protected and cared for—they are seen, valued, and sometimes guided back home.

Thank you for standing with elders who have no one else to turn to. Your continued support gives them safety, hope, and a chance to reconnect with life itself.

November 2025

Your concern and compassion for senior citizens who have been abandoned by their families continue to create miracles! Our NGO partners just shared their half-yearly reports, and the message is clear: over a thousand elders are experiencing dignity, care, and companionship because of support by donors like you for our mission ‘Protect Abandoned Elders.’

This includes elders like Kiran (name changed) was found near GT.B Hospital in critical condition. Our Mission: Protect Abandoned Elders NGO partner SHEOWS provided emergency care including antibiotics, blood transfusions, and round-the-clock nursing. Through relentless medical attention and nutritional rehabilitation, Kiran's vitals stabilised and consciousness returned. Today, Kiran is medically stable, communicating with caregivers, and experiencing the comfort of community among fellow residents. Perhaps for the first time in years.

Your impact so far this year

Your generous donations have provided 1,054 abandoned elders with shelter, food, and healthcare through our three NGO partners—SHEOWS (500 elders), Jeevan Anand Sanstha (254 elders), and Pure Devotion (300 abandoned widows).

Here are some beautiful moments your donations created during the first half of 2025:

  • SHEOWS highlights: 274,500 nutritious meals were provided to beneficiaries and over 24 thousand health check-ups were done during the period. 146 elders were rescued from streets and railway stations.

  • Jeevan Anand Sanstha highlights: The NGO purchased an ambulance to transport residents for medical treatment. Beneficiaries actively participated in agricultural activities, kitchen work, and poultry projects, giving them purpose and engagement.

Pure Devotion highlights: Monthly grocery kits provided to 300 abandoned widows . Regular health checkups and medicines provided to ensure their wellbeing.

October 2025

Our colleague Edin Jayanti recently visited Jeevan Anand Ashram, one of the NGOs supported by you, our monthly donors who are part of the mission Protect Abandoned Elderly.

Here’s what Edin has to say about the impact your donations are making on the ground:

“During my visit to Jeevan Anand Ashram in Virar, Maharashtra, I witnessed firsthand how your donations are transforming lives. This is one of the old age homes of the NGO. The ashram currently provides shelter, medical care, and dignity to 26 rescued elderly and mentally challenged individuals and people who were once abandoned on streets or left in hospitals with nowhere to go.

One interaction that deeply moved me was with Mr. Pascal Fernandes, who has called the ashram home for the past seven years. Abandoned by wife and son, Pascal could have lost all hope. Instead, he found belonging here. Despite being wheelchair-bound, he spends his days painting diyas and making greeting cards, contributing to the ashram community in his own beautiful way.

"This ashram is now my true home," he told me with genuine gratitude. "I receive complete care without any worry."

Thank you for making these life-restoring interventions possible through your monthly support.

September 2025

This Independence Day, the elderly residents at our partner NGOs, SHEOWS (Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans Welfare Society) and Jeevan Aanand Sanstha, experienced a wave of emotion and pride. Many of them grew up in a young, independent India and carry memories of the nation’s journey. This year, their celebrations were filled with patriotism, reflection, and heartfelt moments.

As the tricolour flag flew high and patriotic songs filled the air, stories of their youth resurfaced—tales of sacrifice, hope, and the pride of watching India grow. For these abandoned elders, the day was not just about remembrance; it was about reclaiming their sense of belonging and dignity.

The Rakshabandhan festivities were filled with joy, with women tying rakhis and men pledging their protective vows.

The attached photographs capture more than a celebration. They reflect how your generosity is bringing purpose and joy to their lives.

Thanks to your support for our Protect Abandoned Elders mission, SHEOWS and Jeevan Aanand can provide a safe and loving home where these cherished elders can live their golden years with respect, happiness, and fulfillment.

August 2025

When Roop Singh, 60, arrived at Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans' Welfare Society (SHEOWS) in June 2024, they could barely move. Roop Singh was abandoned and hopeless. But thanks to your support and the NGO’s efforts, Roop Singh’s story took a turn toward healing.

Your support to the Protect Abandoned Elderly mission provided Roop Singh with medical care, surgery, physiotherapy, round-the-clock love by caregivers who became family and a second chance.

Today, Roop Singh walks independently, smiles brighter than ever!

This transformation didn’t just heal a body—it restored dignity and hope. And it happened because you chose to stand with the abandoned elderly through our Protect Abandoned Elderly mission.

Your generosity brings more than care. It creates family. Meet the devoted caregivers who transform your support for ‘Protect Abandoned Elders’ into love, dignity, and meaningful bonds. Hear directly from two Saint Hardyal Educational and Orphans' Welfare Society (SHEOWS) team members about the lives they touch every day, and the profound connections they’ve built.

Rahul Kumar, caregiver

“For the past year, I have been caring for the elderly, and nothing brings me more joy than seeing them smile. Every elder deserves to feel respected and valued and that’s what I strive for each day. One unforgettable moment for me was when a quiet, reserved elderly person began sharing stories from his youth. It reminded me how powerful connection truly is. This work has taught me patience, compassion, and the beauty of life’s small moments.”

Rakesh Kumar, care giver

“I have been taking care of the seniors at SHEOWS for the past eight months. The most rewarding part for me was not just becoming a caregiver, but a friend. I believe every elder deserves to feel respected and valued. So, I strive to earn their trust, bringing comfort to their days. In return, I’ve learned so much from their wisdom and experiences.”

April 2025

Holi, the festival of colours, has a magical way of awakening the child within us all—even for the elderly who call SHEOWS and Jeevan Aanand Sanstha home. This year, our partner NGOs were swept up in a vibrant celebration where laughter rang louder than the years weighing on their shoulders.

As colours filled the air, so did stories—of childhood pranks played long ago, of youthful Holis celebrated with family now gone. For these abandoned elders, the true magic was in the rediscovered sense of belonging.

These photographs capture more than the festival of Holi; they show how your generosity is bringing joy to the lives of the elderly.

Thanks to your support for Protect Abandoned Elders, SHEOWS and Jeevan Aanand can provide a home where our elderly residents can live their golden years with happiness and fulfillment.
