Manage India's Waste
May 2026
Your monthly support to our mission Manage India's Waste is helping transform how India's cities think about waste—and the people who manage it.
In the past year, our partner Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group has:
Collected 1.2 lakh kgs of wet waste, 1.67 lakh kgs of dry waste, and 21K kgs of plastic waste through door-to-door services, diverting waste from landfills and channelling it toward composting and recycling.
Trained 57 waste collectors on segregation techniques, health and hygiene, and safe operations
Reached thousands of direct beneficiaries through awareness drives, community events, and doorstep guidance
Trained employees at workplaces with dedicated bins installed and internal volunteers identified.
Story from the Ground
Mr. Arvind Kumar manages waste operations at a mid-sized restaurant. While his team knew about waste segregation, implementation was inconsistent during busy hours—kitchen waste often mixed with dry waste, causing odour, hygiene issues, and inefficient disposal. After attending a structured training session under the Monthly Mission programme, the team reorganised their waste collection points, introduced clearly labelled bins, and set up a small-scale composting system using available space. Regular checks ensured new habits stuck. The results: improved segregation, reduced odour, less mixed waste sent for disposal, and a more confident team.

This is what your support makes possible; practical change that sticks. Thank you for helping us.

Thanks to your support for give.do's mission 'Manage India's Waste', our NGO partner Chintan is creating ripples of change.
In just a few months, hundreds of homes now have waste solutions and thousands of tonnes diverted from landfills. The real magic? Turning ordinary citizens into sustainability champions.
From morning walkers to waste warriors

A group of women from Sujan Singh Park struggled with daily kitchen waste. During Chintan's Upcycle Utsav, they noticed a composting demonstration at Nehru Park. Curiosity led them to stay through the session, asking: How to avoid smell? What can be composted?
Two days later, Chintan helped them set up a community composting unit using an old drum.
Within six weeks, their first compost batch was ready. They used it to revive plants around their block, earning compliments from neighbours and NDMC staff.
Today, this group manages waste from 20 households—proof that focused training turns anyone into an environmental champion.
Your donation fuels changemakers like these women. Thank you for believing in this change!

Your monthly support to our mission Manage India’s Waste is helping turn garbage into a green opportunity.

In the first half of this year, our NGO partner Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group has:
Collected 60,192 kg of wet waste, 98,959 kg of dry waste, and 10,246 kg of plastic waste through door-to-door services, significantly reducing the environmental burden on landfills.
Conducted waste segregation awareness sessions across 10 NDMC residential colonies including Bapa Nagar, Bharti Nagar, Kaka Nagar, and Lodhi Estate, distributing 2,500 educational flyers.
Set up educational stalls at Lodhi Garden, Nehru Park, and Central Park using 4-bin segregation displays to train visitors on composting and proper waste management.
Provided doorstep guidance to 182 households on setting up home composting systems and correct segregation practices.
Trained staff of 32 Bhawans and several institutions on managing food waste through composting and establishing segregation systems.
Story from the ground
For years, Mr. and Mrs. Rajan of Bharti Nagar struggled with managing their kitchen waste. Dustbins filled quickly, fruit peels produced foul smells, and they watched helplessly as everything got mixed together.

Everything changed when they attended a Chintan awareness session at Lodhi Garden during Upcycle Utsav. The team demonstrated how simple segregation could reduce household waste by 60% and showed them small-scale home composting using just a 10-litre bucket.
Encouraged, the Rajans attended a follow-up doorstep session where Chintan staff helped them set up two bins and learn composting basics. Within a month, they produced their first batch of compost for their balcony plants.
Today, their kitchen waste is no longer smelly, their household waste volume has decreased significantly, and they proudly teach segregation practices to their neighbours—all thanks to one simple awareness session.
Thank you for helping transform waste into hope and opportunity.

Your monthly commitment to support our mission Manage India’s Waste has started making an impact, evident from recent fund utilisation reports from our NGO partners.

So far, waste has been collected from 650 households in two localities of central Delhi - and, more importantly, properly segregated - by our NGO partner Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group.
Effective segregation diverts toxic waste from landfills, reducing its negative impact on the environment.

Other Highlights:
Collection of 28,229.5 kg of wet waste, 14,044 kg of dry waste, and 1,389.35 kg of plastic waste through door-to-door services.
Skills training to 11 waste pickers to segregate waste efficiently, ensuring more waste is recycled and composted rather than sent to landfills.
Thank you for your contribution towards minimising the effect of household waste on the environment.

Here is an illustration of how your contribution to our Manage India’s Waste mission is being used to clean the environment.
Inspired after receiving training on proper waste disposal from our NGO partner Chintan, Motilal of West Delhi's Harijan Basti began segregating and composting his daily organic waste at home. With the compost he transformed his backyard into the greenest garden in his neighbourhood. Now more than 1,000 residents in the area are following his footsteps, ensuring their wet waste is not going to landfills.

With regular support from donors like you, our NGO partners can widen the scope of their impact on the environment by reaching out to more like Motilal - a stellar example of Gandhij’s oft-repeated quote: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
