I was born unwanted, but I will soar among the stars
"Subhasree was born into a family expecting a son, leading to her mother facing daily abuse from her father. As the youngest daughter of daily laborers in a poverty-stricken village in Purulia, West Bengal, Subhasree grew up in fear, blaming herself for her mother’s suffering and feeling unwanted. A community worker from Turnstone Global intervened, counseling her parents and enrolling Subhasree in school. Now, she thrives in her studies, participates in extracurricular activities, and dreams of becoming a pilot."

"Shakti Dasi, a 74-year-old widow from Tripura, endured years of abuse after her husband's death. Beaten and denied food by her son and daughter-in-law, she fled to Radhakund, surviving for 18 years by begging and singing bhajans. In 2012, Maitri enrolled her in their Jeevan project, providing food and medical care. By 2014, she became the first resident of MaitriGhar Ashram, where she now lives with dignity, receiving meals, healthcare, and a private room with a temple."
Response to landslides and floods in Kerala
"Ramakrishnan, a 67-year-old farmer from Wayanad, spent his life in small-scale farming until devastating floods uprooted his family. As waters rose, they evacuated their submerged home, leaving behind their belongings and harvest. For weeks, they lived in a temporary camp, dependent on aid. Along with many others facing similar hardships, they received essential relief from ActionAid, including food, sanitation kits, cots, and mattresses, helping them rebuild their lives."

A new dawn for Deivanai

At 80, Deivanai should have been cherished in her golden years. Instead, betrayal and violence left her homeless, scarred, and heartbroken. After losing her husband decades ago, she sacrificed everything for her family—only to be abandoned in her time of need. Thanks to compassionate donors, Atchayam Trust rescued her from despair. Today, she has safe shelter, medical care, and, for the first time in years, peace. Your support restored her dignity.
